Wedding Trends For 2015

British Inspiration: The stylish details below bring to mind afternoon tea and garden parties.  Tables are often uncovered or simply adorned with a vintage lace cloth. Lush garlands get turned into runners and loosely styled floral centerpieces hang from above.

Popular Floral Design: Garden roses, juliet roses, peonies, hydrangeas, dahlias and ranunculus continue to be go-to favorites among brides. These flower are elegant but simply chic.

Greenery: We are seeing more and more greenery. Herbs like rosemary and mint, lemon leaf, magnolia leaf, and ivy.  Greenery is being used as table runners or chair swags, to frame cocktail menus and to give vintage chandeliers a soft look.

Champagne fun: Champagne towers and bars have returned! A more casual, colorful option: mixing in fruit purées to create a signature cocktail that matches your color palette.

Cocktails: Craft beer; shots of different bourbons; wine samplings; sangria or soda bar; couples are letting guests sample their favorite drink or signature family beverage. These types of different drink stations are a great way to engage your guests

Family-style dining. Guest interaction is a big goal for today's couples.
Just a taste: Tasting stations are a great way for couples to show off their favorite foods in manageable portions. 

The Cake: Couples are choosing cake flavors that are rooted in their hometowns or family heritage, where they began dating or a favorite destination. A popular cake we will see more of in 2015 is the naked cake (pictured below).

Texture and more texture: Lace patterns, pleats, and textured material also remain strong trends for brides going for a vintage or soft, romantic feel. For a modern wedding, the texture might be a herringbone or other geometric pattern.

Wedding Signage

Wedding signage is becoming a huge trend in the wedding world.  Couples use wedding signage in many ways for multitudes of reasons.  It can easily (and frugally) add touches of elegance, glamour, humor and whimsicality to your wedding.

Wedding signs can also be exceedingly helpful to guests and save them from possible confusion.  They can lead them to ceremony sites, cocktail hours and reception areas.  They can also tell them where to sit at the ceremony.  If you have a tight budget you could even write the itinerary on a chalkboard(or any other kind of signage) and display it for everyone to see as they enter or leave the ceremony.  Your wedding coordinator will of course handle these details, though it never hurts to have a back up and some extra decor!

There are a few ways to get wedding signage.  One way is to simply order it online.  There are many websites that have pre-made signs that you can buy.  You can also custom order online or ask a local craft store if they offer custom signage.  Or, if your crafty, then you can make your own!

Before you set off to the store to make your own signs, decide on what kind of signs you want to make.  If you're incorporating multiple signs into your wedding, you will want them to be fairly consistent.  Next, you can either look up a tutorial online on how to make your desired sign or you can consult someone from your local craft store.  Here are some examples of wedding signage and how they can be incorporated into your theme.

The Great Gatsby

Old Hollywood glam themes are making a huge statement right now.  This is mainly due to the recent showing of a new film called The Great Gatsby.  The film is based on book, also called The Great Gatsby, which was written in the 1920's.  After being scooted to the back of the bookshelves for 20+ years, it made a comeback in the 1940's and was then considered a literary classic.  The story was about a character named Jay Gatsby, a young mysterious millionaire and his intense feelings for Daisy Buchanan.  The story took place during the 1920's, which was the jazz age.

This story paints a picture of the American dream, which is why it's become so popular to base your theme around it's intricate details.  Between it's romantic ambiance, lively atmosphere and glamorous design, this theme is sure to please all of your guests.  Details of this theme include pearls, gold(dish ware, jewelry, etc), crystals, white feathers, slim fitting dresses with all over beading, and extravagant hair pieces.  Be sure to include some champagne to set the tone. This is definitely a "go big or go home" type of theme.  Place a feather here and there and it might look a little off.  But a bouquet of white feathers set on black linens with gold and crystal accents will blow your guests away!  Here are a few pictures of some gorgeous Gatsby themed weddings.  We can do this for you!
